Inside a barn on the distillery property, the words “October 18 1939 Storm” were found handwritten in pencil on one of the old beams. Officially recorded in the history books as Hurricane #5, the storm was so fierce that the townsfolk had to make record of it in this barn—a barn so well built, it still stands today.

The main label is made from birch as a way to connect the the bottle to the village of River John’s past. This village was known in the 19th century for making some of the finest ships in the world.

Tasting Notes

The whisky is a light amber colour. Aromas of caramel, honey & baking spices (cardamom, ginger and cloves). Flavours of butterscotch, rye spice and hints of vanilla with a creamy easy finish.
